PARKS & RECREATION
Recently the Casco Township Board supported the efforts of the newly created Regional Youth Initiative with $75,000 for creative arts and sports programs. The Regional Youth Initiative is housed in the former administrative offices of the Richmond School District. Kelley Osterman, executive director and Cindy Babisz, facility director are busy overseeing building upgrades and program creation. Special prices and considerations will be given to all Casco families because of the injection of a small portion of our Park & Recreation fund for this venture. We will be linking you to the Regional Youth Initiative website as program selections and times become available. Casco Township receives funds from the St. Clair County millage levy for Parks & Recreation of .4954 each year, We are building a fund balance for the creation of our own outdoor area. Our park location is on Meisner Road just west of Palms Road. In the future the Casco Township will appoint a Parks & Recreation committee to oversee the creation of recreational space on this acreage. In the meantime our residents will be able to enjoy arts, crafts, sports, drama and other opportunities at the indoor Richmond Facility.

NOTICE FOR 2011 TAX YEAR
TO: ALL PROPERTY OWNERS IN CASCO TOWNSHIP SUBJECT: REAPPRAISAL OF CASCO TOWNSHIP
Because Casco Township did not receive a passing score on the State Tax Commission Mini 14 Point Review, the Casco Township Board has retained Landmark Appraisal Company
to do a complete reappraisal of Casco Township. The Township is required to maintain a detailed record of all the properties located within its jurisdiction. This reappraisal will
establish accurate and uniform assessments throughout the Township. It is imperative for you to realize that the reappraisal WILL NOT increase taxes on those
properties that have previously been taxed for buildings on the property (except for the annual level of inflation required by the State Tax Commission on taxable values). If a building,
addition, swimming pool, patio, deck, etc. (land improvement); or building improvements, i.e.,finished basements, additional bathrooms, built
-ins, etc. is found on the property that hasnot previously been on the assessment/tax roll, then that improvement will be added to the assessments/tax roll; and that property will experience an increase in taxes because of the
omitted improvement
. I reiterate ... ONLY IF AN IMPROVEMENT HAS NEVER BEEN TAXED, WILL YOUR TAXES INCREASE. OTHERWISE, YOU WILL EXPERIENCENO TAX INCREASE DUE TO THIS REAPPRAISAL. The representative of Landmark Appraisal Company will be visiting each property in Casco Township to gather information
regarding the various structures on the property. This representative will be measuring each structure, gathering information regarding the interior of the buildings and photographing
the properties. In order to verify the identity of this representative, you may ask to see this letter of introduction and photo identification from Landmark Appraisal Company.
The Township appreciates you cooperation, and if you have any questions, please contact me at (586) 727-7524 or (586) 727-9853.
Sincerely,
Karen G. Holk, Supervisor
